Energi Announces Discovery of New Gas Well in Walanga, Continues Coordination with SKK Migas

KABARWAJO.ID – PT Energi Mega Persada (ENRG) – which previously acquired the remaining shares of Energy Equity Epic Sengkang (EEES) – announced the discovery of a new gas well in the East Walanga Structure through the EWL-1 Exploration Well in the Sengkang Cooperation Contract (KKS).

President Director and CEO of Energi Mega Persada, Syailendra S Bakrie, confirmed the discovery of the new well. In a press release, Syailendra said there had been a significant discovery below the surface.

“Based on evaluations of the subsurface area, ENRG has confirmed the discovery of 0.2 trillion cubic feet of gas,” said Syailendra in Jakarta on Monday (1/12/2025).

Initial testing results show that the EWL-1 well is capable of producing gas at a rate of 25 to 36 million cubic feet per day. The well’s Absolute Open Flow (AOF) potential reaches 120 million cubic feet per day.

The President Director of Energi Mega Persada added that the potential for further discoveries is in line with continued exploration in the same structure.

“Further exploration activities are expected to increase the potential discovery to 0.5 trillion cubic feet of gas in the East Walanga combined structure,” he said.

Syailendra confirmed that he would continue to coordinate with SKK Migas to determine the next technical and commercial steps for the East Walanga structure.

This phase will include detailed reservoir evaluation, economic estimates, and preparations for converting the discovery into proven reserves.

“ENRG has collaborated with SKK Migas in the evaluation, drilling, and testing phases that led to this gas discovery,” he said.
